Work Experience Information

WORK EXPERIENCE TO READ PRIOR TO WORKING.

Welcome to Bulleen Art & Garden, we hope that your stay is both enjoyable and beneficial.
If you have any questions or problems please do not hesitate to ask any staff member.

Safety at BAAG is more important than customer service!

We make every effort to make Bulleen Art & Garden a safe place to work. However, accidents will occur if you do not show some common sense and caution. You are responsible for your personal safety and the people you work with. GREAT CARE MUST BE TAKEN AT ALL TIMES WHEN WORKING WITH OR AROUND MACHINERY. SERIOUS ACCIDENTS CAN AND WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DO NOT SHOW GREAT CAUTION. STAY WELL CLEAR OF TRUCKS, FORKLIFTS, TRACTORS AND ALL VEHICLES AT ALL TIMES.

ELECTRIC TRACTORS AND TRAILERS.
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE, RIDE ON, OR STAND CLOSE TO THESE VEHICLES.
These are very powerful small vehicles, and have the potential to crush legs if great care is not taken and you don’t keep clear of the vehicle while it is working.

POWER TOOLS.
Power tools are for use by full time staff only. Never use these tools and keep well clear when other people are operating them.

WORK TIMES.
You must be at work at the specified times. If you cannot come to work or leave during the day for whatever reason you must notify the manager as soon as possible.

BREAKS.
You are entitled to a morning break of 15 minutes from 10 am, a lunch break of 30 minutes at either 12 or 1pm and an afternoon break of 15 minutes from 3pm. The person supervising you will send you off for your breaks (don’t hesitate to remind them if they forget!)

LIFTING AND GENERAL WORK.
All lifting must be done with a straight back. Use your legs to lift the weight. Ask the person you are working with to demonstrate correct lifting if you are unsure. If you have problems lifting an object or lifting repetitively do not strain or continue. Seek assistance from the person you are working for. Do not worry about telling us that something is to heavy. You are not allowed to lift anything over eighteen kilograms. If anything is worrying you at all do not hesitate to tell the manager. We expect you to complete the job given to you to the best of your ability, do not hesitate to ask questions to get the job done properly.

CLOTHING
Clothing needs to be neat, and a strong pair of comfortable waterproof shoes. The work you may be involved with may be messy and / or wet. Waterproof jackets and pants will be supplied as well as hats and sunscreen.
