Smokers are only allowed to smoke during the allocated break times For example, for a shift over 7.6 hours, during morning tea (15min), lunch (30min) and afternoon tea (15min). Breaks are only be taken in the allocated time blocks and cannot be split into smaller time periods during the day.
If you need to smoke before you start your shift then you MUST do so before your rostered start time and before clocking on, and then vice versa at the end of your shift.
Smoking is only to be done in the designated zone, which is over in the new area beside the green shipping container under the flower vase. This is due to the risk of
Tobacco mosaic virus and to mitigate the risk of second-hand smoke. We would also prefer that you wash your hands after smoking, before returning to the nursery.
Staff are not to smoke in the presence of customers and should avoid smoking in the presence of other staff members. If staff approach the smoking area, that is their choice, but smokers should not approach other staff while smoking.
