Public Holidays explained

If you would normally be rostered to work on a Public Holiday and you don’t work:

You will get hours added to your pay that will be labelled ‘Public Holiday’. Normally this will be 7.6 hours as per the Work Agreement, those who do shorter shifts will receive the normal hours they would be rostered to work.

It is generally assumed that all staff who would normally be rostered on will be working on a Public Holiday. Talk to your manager WELL IN ADVANCE of the day if you would like to request the day off.

If you do work a Public Holiday (regardless of your normal roster):

You will get hours added to your pay that will be labelled ‘Public Holiday’. Normally this will be 7.6 hours as per the Work Agreement, those who do shorter shifts will receive the normal hours they would be rostered to work. In addition to this you will be paid Weekend Hours for all the time you work on the Public Holiday.

eg. you work for 9.1 hours on the Public Holiday… your pay will be 7.6 Public Holiday and 9.1 Weekend Hours for that day.
